User Defined Files Soft Descriptions

        

There are a total of 10 user defined companion files used in concert with PRMS master files. The user-defined files soft description enhancement allows the clients to easily change the field headings. This allows the ability to change the field verbiage on the user defined field from 'Field 1 (7,2)' to whatever the users want to call it, and to set it up so that the verbiage for the second field in the product master user defined file is different from the verbiage of the second field in the customer master user defined file. This menu-accessed function (MS0849) allows you to select a user defined file and modify the literal value associated with each data element to something that is meaningful.

·   Eliminate custom programming changes. Change the literal heading of customer fields by using PRMS maintenance programs. 
·   Avoid confusion and data entry errors resulting from the incorrect user fields being updated.
·   Speed up data entry and master file maintenance when user specified descriptions are used as visual cues. 
·   Customize data screens without making any system modifications that need to be supported by the IT departments.

Features: 

·   Two new files have been created to carry the literals. MSUDP100 in the user defined literal header, and MSUDP200 in the user defined literal detail.
