In general products have a development stage, an active
stage and an aging or obsolete stage. Many users wish to control how freely a product may
be purchased or sold during each stage, or cycle.
The product life cycle function allows user defined life cycle codes which regulate
whether six order entry functions and three purchasing / receiving functions may be
executed freely, with a warning / override option, or not at all.
The functions regulated are:
· Regular order entry.
· Sample order entry.
· Customer order quotes.
· Post bill order entry and shipment.
· Auto customer order Allocation.
· Regular and Sample shipments.
· Purchase order entry.
· Requisition entry.
· PO Receipts. Benefits:
· Customize your system. With the ability to identify the
"lifecycle stages" of a specific product you can prevent the shipment of
obsolete or unapproved product.
· Significantly greater flexibility provides a user with the tools to
minimize obsolete materials while maximizing customer satisfaction.
· Visibility to products at any lifecycle stage.
· Eliminate exposure to buying obsolete materials and components. Let
the system provide the information to manage new and obsolete products at purchase order
creation and receipt time.
· Focus on making on-time shipments to your customers. Eliminate
manual systems designed to catch out-of date or unapproved material shipments.
· Eliminate purchasing errors. Never purchase out-of-date material
again.
· Configure order entry and purchasing to fit your specific business
needs.
Features:
· A new program has been created for Lifecycle Code Maintenance,
MS0834.
· All lifecycle codes are user defined. New program options controls
which system functions are permitted for products tied to this lifecycle code.
· Attach text to a lifecycle code.
· Order processing checkpoints include order entry, quotes, post bill
order entry, shipments, and auto allocation.
· PO checkpoints include checks during PO entry, requisition
creation, and at receipts processing time.
· For each checkpoint, codes may be used allowing an action, prevent
an action or allow the action with a warning message.
· Allows definition of user defined restrictions. Each lifecycle code
allows for ten user-defined restrictions. Some custom programming may be required.
